President's Message:

Since accepting the opportunity to lead this great association in January 2006, I have had the pleasure to work with hard working black employees who are committed to the success of Xerox and are dedicated to the goals and objectives of NBEA. They sacrifice their time, personal expense and often the needs of their families. Our efforts are focused on a vital few initiatives and we ensure that they are understood and address by Xerox Corporation.

This issue of our newsletter is dedicated to one of our vital few initiatives: “Growth and Upward Mobility” with a particular focus toward the black females around Band B opportunities. For that reason, we have chosen to highlight the successful careers of three talented black females each pursuing very different career paths; i.e. corporate, field selling and manufacturing. Additionally, Lynn Edmonds, Client Managing Executive, for our largest commercial customer, General Motors, will be our featured speaker at the September 12 th “All Hands Meeting”.

NBEA leadership and local caucus groups will continue to work to ensure our black females are highlighted and able to take full advantage of the opportunities at Xerox. We will continue to partner with the BWLC leadership team toward this end.

Increased Participation and Vacant Lots (areas void of black participation at the Band B level) round out the top three vital initiatives that the NBEA Board along with our Champion, Mike Branningan is focused on in 2006.

Mike has been working aggressively with the board to drive interest and participation. He was featured in our May “All Hands Meeting” live from Chicago and in August he attended the local caucus group meeting of Los Angeles Black Employees (LABE).

Rethink, Rebuild and Renew………it will take more than just a few. With that as our mantra for 2006, we need you to register now for our East Coast Conference in Washington D.C. on October 6-8 th. As laid out in this newsletter, there will be many important workshops that will benefit you personally as well as professionally. Much has changed at Xerox Corporation over the years and continuous change is required of all businesses in order to succeed. With our corporate champion and other senior leaders from Xerox being present at this conference you will want to hear from them first hand on what you can be doing to effectively adjust to these changes at Xerox.
